WHAT IS A COMMUNITY COLLABORATIVE?
A Community Collaborative is a diverse governance team that brings together agency decision-makers (people responsible for services), stakeholders, and consumers (people using the services) to “drive”, manage, and monitor the local collaborative, community-based, family-driven, fully integrated System of Care. Members work together as a team in the following roles:
Advisory Role
Operates as an advisory body regarding child specific service/treatment decisions made by a Child and Family Team (CFT)
Decision Making Role
Provides direction and support for implementing System of Care including identifying training and technical assistance needs
Continuously assesses the need for additional resources and provides leadership towards that goal
Makes decisions about how At Risk funds are spent
Identifies and coordinates existing resources across child-serving agencies and the community to increase access, divert children from unnecessary out of home
placements, and return children placed out of the community
The Community Collaboratives are made up of family members and agency supervisors from mental health, juvenile justice, social services and education. In addition, membership may include family advocacy organizations, health/medicine, interested community members, non-profit organizations, and members from faith communities.
